METRO is the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas - serving the Greater Houston Area with safe, clean, reliable, accessible and friendly public transportation services to help you "Drive Less, Do More."
We operate local and commuter buses, light rail, HOV/HOT (high occupancy vehicle/toll) lanes, METROLift paratransit service in the City of Houston (and most of Harris County) for people with disabilities, and vanpool service in portions of an eight county region.
Plus, with more than 25 Park & Ride locations throughout the Greater Houston Area, it's convenient for you to park your car and get on board with METRO.

They do a fantastic job. When I saw how bad the front end on 2448 was damaged, I was sure METRO was going to retire the bus but, several months later, it came back like new ❤

Just minor sidewalk, curb, and bus shelter improvements, 82 is in dire need of a dedicated lane treament tho. Should've been a rail line a long time ago.

Hello I want to bring to your attention that the new houston metro leadership appointed under mayor John Whitmire may scrap the new transit projects and that may include completely scrapping the new University BRT line. Along with this the mayor may use his new leverage to strip metro of their finances and degrade quality of service. Please voice your concerns to your city council member along with all city council at large members. And if you or anyone you know lives in senate district 15 please vote for Molly Cook as she is a transit advocate herself and can help provide houston with better transit services. (District 15 areas includes montrose, all of northwest houston between 290 and 45, and Bellaire area south of uptown, and from Humble to bush airport to Atoscacita)

There are several different types of racks. On some types, the release handle which must be pulled up to move the rack into loading position is hard to see. I have seen bikers fail to load their bikes successfully and the driver unwilling to be helpful. That release handle should be yellow, but I was looking at a couple of buses today and I could not see a release handle.
What can be done about the violent homeless people threatening passengers on the rail and defecating on the seats and floors?
